AT-KABUL: At least 26 militants have been killed, and nine others wounded in different crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces in the past 24 hours, security officials said on Thursday.
In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Ghazni, Paktia, Farah, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, in which 26 militants killed, and nine others wounded.
During these operations, the Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemy’s positions by artilleries and air force.
12 terrorist killed and five others wounded in Dehyak district of Ghazni, six insurgents killed and 30 mines discovered and confiscated in Grishk district of Helmand and four Taliban fighters were killed in Qushtepa district of Jawzjan.
Similar, two Taliban fighters were killed and four others wounded in Khak-e-Safid district of Farah and two terrorist killed in Zurmat district of Paktia.
In past 24 hours, 12 planed clearing operations, 14 Special Forces operations conducted in nine provinces; also, air forces conducted 85 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including four strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries. ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
