AT News Report-KABUL: Ministry of Interior on Tuesday said that General Command of Police Special Units Seized a vehicle planned to carry explosives in Kandahar Province.
Based on intelligence report, yesterday morning, General Command of Police Special Units carried out a security operation in Khosh Aab village, Daman district, southern Kandahar province, which as a result, police has seized a vehicle packed with explosives, the ministry said in a statement.
The statement added that the General Command of Police Special Units had prior information that a vehicle carrying explosives would enter the Kandahar city. In a separate report, yesterday, Afghan National Police conducted an operation in Kadal region of Zhiri district.
Afghan National Police detected and seized one drum full of explosives, one mortar round, one rocket launcher and some amount of ammunition during this operation
The timely discovery of the explosives has foiled terror attacks and saved the city from an expected tragedy. Discoveries like this demonstrate the ever-increasing capability of Afghan National Security Forces to protect the civilians from indiscriminate IED attacks.
