By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: At least six people “four civilians, two security officials) embraced martyrdom after a suicide attacker on foot blew himself up close to a National Directorate of Security (NDS) office near Abdulhaq Square in Kabul city, security officials said.
The blast comes a week after Islamic State (IS), which is also known as Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for attack again on NDS training center in Kabul.
A suicide bomber targeted (NDS) checkpoint in Police Distinct 9th in area of Shash Darak around 8:00am on Monday morning, Kabul Police Spokesman, Basir Mujahid told Afghanistan Times. He confirmed martyrdom of three civilians, and injures of four other.
However, Spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Ismail Kawosi confirmed six dead and one wounded in the bombing.
While chairing Ministry of Council session, the Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah said one police and one soldier martyred in the attack. He condemned the terrorist act in strongest possible terms, and expressed his deep condolence with bereaved families.
President Ashraf Ghani also condemned the attack in strongest term. “The enemies of peace and stability by caring such attacks will never achieve their evil goals, but the hatred and disgust of the people will increase every day toward them,” President Ghani was quoted in a statement issued by Presidential Palace, as saying.
President Ghani expressed his deep condolences and sympathies with the bereaved families, prayed paradise for martyrs, and rapid recover to those wounded.
Furthermore, Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, Nasrat Rahimi also confirmed the attack, putting the death toll to six people, while five others wounded.
He said that the suicide bomber detonated his explosives close to NDS checkpoint near Abdulhaq square.
Daesh extremist group took credit for attack through a message on the Amaq website associated with the militants. On December, Daesh fighters claimed another attack against NDS training center in Kabul; fortunately, the brave Afghan security forces killed the three attackers before to reach their evil goal. Civilians and security forces received no casualties.
It is worth mentioning that both, Taliban and Daesh militants have carried out deadly attacks in Kabul in the past. The most deadly one was May 31 tracking bombing ripped through diplomatic quarter, killing at least 150 residents, and wounding hundreds. But since that, security in the capital has been ramped up.
