AT News Report-KABUL: The ousted Balkh governor, Atta Mohammad Noor attacked the National Unity Government, saying it operates in contravention of the country’s constitution, while calling on foreign countries to restrain from interfering into internal affairs.
During briefing to his supporters in Mazar-e-Sharif on Saturday, he once again called on followers to stand ready for civic action if ongoing negotiations between Jamiat-e-Islami and the Presidential Palace fail to bear results.
“When I called you for ‘green action’, it will be a move where you will take to the streets in massive groups and chant you demands. If your voice is heard and the problem is solved then good, otherwise, we will move towards ‘orange’ action. What is an orange action? It is a move where we will go out in massive groups and close roads and government offices in the entire province,” TOLONews quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, Noor responded to recent remarks by new US ambassador to Kabul John. R. Bass.
“The government is a government based on an agreement. The ambassador of one of the countries talked about law in Afghanistan. However, we rely on the stance of US Vice President Mike Pence. He is the criterion for us because he has raised his voice from the White House and we welcomed this,” he said.
“It is possible that ARG (Presidential Palace) would have convinced the (US) ambassador to make the remarks, but I want to ask him that he should review the (Afghan) Constitution and understand the situation in Afghanistan.”
Recently President Ashraf Ghani accepted resignation of Noor with appointing Mohammad Dawood as his successor. But Noor immediately reject his resignation, saying he tendered it based on conditions that has not fulfilled.
In several occasions, Noor warned government over decision, saying he will remain in post unless government reaches a conclusion with his party (Jamiat).
