AT-KABUL: The Polish President on Tuesday in a meeting with the Chief Executive (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah pledged deployment of additional troops to Afghanistan.

Currently, about 13,500 foreign troops are stationed in Afghanistan as part of NATO’s Resolute Support (RS) mission. The international troops include 192 Polish soldiers.

A statement issued by the CEO office, said that the two leaders shed light over various issues of mutual interests and highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation.

“CEO held a productive meeting with the Polish President, Andrzej Duda,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the CEO appreciated Polish President for his country’s military cooperation with Afghanistan and stressed on further increase in troops level.

In return, the Polish President pledged his country would boost deploy additional troops to Afghanistan, aimed at training and advising the Afghan security forces, as per framework of the Resolute Support Mission.

“Poland would continue supporting Afghanistan politically and militarily,” Duda remarked.

Moreover, a formal decision has been taken to celebrate 90th anniversary of diplomatic and political relationship between Afghanistan and Poland during the ongoing year, in which a special ceremony would be organized in this regard.
