AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: India’s seventh consignment of wheat to be sent to Afghanistan arrived at Iran’s Southeastern Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar on Monday, it has been reported.
“India’s cargo vessel named Arezoo carrying 600 containers arrived in Chabahar port in Sistan-Baluchestan province,” Hossein Shahdadi, an official with the province’s Ports and Maritime Office said on Monday.
In total, he added, 4,200 containers of India’s wheat have arrived in Chabahar port since last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2018).
He reiterated that some 110,000 tons of India wheat for Afghanistan will be transported annually to Afghanistan which is a landlocked country through Chabahar.
From Chabahar, the shipments will be transported via road to Milak, a border city on the Iran-Afghan border. India’s first consignment arrived in Chabahar in November 2017.
