AT-KABUL: Highwaymen temporarily blocked highway and looted cash and other valuables from passengers in the Kotal Kharqool area on Kabul-Ghor highway on Tuesday night, officials said on Wednesday.
A group of four highwaymen stopped 10 vehicles, have beaten up 200 passengers, and snatched cash and valuables from them in western Ghor province, Deputy Spokesman for Lal Wo-Sarjangal District Police, Nazir Hussain said, adding, the police immediately arrived in the area, but the highwaymen already burgled the passengers.
He identified the robbers as residents of Ashtarly district.
Moreover, at beginning of March, armed highway robbers looted 150 passengers, snatching their cash and valuables in northern Takhar province.
Officials in that time said that the robbers looted passengers of four 303 model buses heading from Takhr province to Kabul.
The robbers stopped the buses in Ozun Passage of Rustaq district and then snatched all money and valuable things of the passengers.
