AT-KABUL: A top U.S. commander General Joseph Votelhas vowed to maintain relentless pressure on the Taliban and its supports, in the wake of a recent string of deadly attacks across the country.
In a meeting in Kabul with Gen. Votel, who is in command of the United States Central Command, Afghan security chiefs conferred upon the US strategy on Afghanistan and military support, ongoing security situation, and security reforms.
Gen. Votel reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to supporting Afghanistan, vowing to exert more pressure on the Taliban and its supporters.
Defense Minister Brigadier General Tariq Shah Bahrami confided about the Afghan army challenges and reforms, and the Nusrat Operation, said a defense ministry statement on Friday.
Interior Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak also talked about reforms in many departments of the security agencies. He mentioned reforms in the Afghan police offices particularly in Kabul city, unveiling a reform process which is aimed at covering other policedepartments.
