AT News Report-KABUL: Former head of the independent election commission, Najibullah Ahmadzai accused the commission of wrong counting of the people registered to vote the October legislative election, saying “few people have registered”.
“Only 400,000 people have so far registered in 17 provinces,” Ahmadzai said Saturday.
He said the commission’s count was wrong, saying if people’s disinterest in election continues, half of the country’s population would be deprived from voting.
Ahmadzai added that the regional voting scheme was offered to the government when he was running the commission, but the government dropped that from the agenda for unknown reasons.
He claimed the election commission had technically failed, saying that if the system goes on, half of Afghans could not vote considering the situation.
But the election commission says that voter registration process was going on speedy, and more than three million people have so far registered.
