AT-KABUL: The Afghan government and the United States are making systematic arrangements to prolong tenure of the current government of national unity through a Constitutional Loya Jirga.
Political analysts believe that the government neither has the intention of neither holding transparent elections nor bringing peace; and that elections are engineered to fail, paving the way for a constitutional amendment and Loya Jirga and an emergency situation; that which paves the ground for prolongation of the government of national unity for another five years.
Political pundits believe that the government’s cease-fire and peace dialogue with the armed Taliban are designed to fail the forthcoming elections.
Sources close to Taliban say that the militant group is planning to sabotage forthcoming parliamentary and districts council elections in magnanimous proportions, and deprive people of their franchise.
Wahid Muzhda, a political analyst, says that the government has no intention of peace and cease-fire and is only deliberating convening a Grand National Assembly to persuade the nation that the government needs to prolong its tenure to stabilize the country.
Former Taliban commander, Seyed Akbar Aqa, believes that the Taliban have made preparations to sabotage the coming elections not only in Pashtun-dominated regions but also in areas with majority of Hazara, Uzbek and Tajik ethnicities.
