AT-KABUL: The members of senate and law experts had negative reactions to President Ashraf Ghani’s order over forming a special investigation department. Senators believe such department would cause the creation of parallel offices that would help increase of corruption.
Maulavi Gholam MohayyoddinMonsef, a member of senate said Monday that the formation of parallel offices would only make job interference and more corruption.
“This is job interference, a new office has been created in the attorney general office under the name of fight against corruption,” Monsef said.
He added that many parallel offices were created, but none of them gave good achievements.
President Ghani reportedly wants the special offices to monitor and investigate high ranking officials and their works including the chief executive office.
The special department would be only responsible to the president, according to reports.
But MaulaviMonsef said that there were several anti-corruption offices in the attorney general office as well as the audit department, adding that the new office would increase the problems several times.
Political analyst, Wadir Safi said if President Ghani intends to remove other anti-corruption departments by creating the new one, it would be effective.
“If the president really wants to fight against corruption and remove other anti-corruption departments and will appoint honest people in this office to fight against corruption, it will be a good step towards fighting against corruption,” Saif said.
Ghani announced that he would remove or integrate parallel departments just after he was sworn in as president in 2014.
