AT-KABUL: About 11 Daesh combatants have surrendered to the army in Jawzjan, in the north, in the past day and have been removed from the city, defense ministry spokesperson said Sunday.
The IS fighters along with five firearms surrendered in Qush Tepa district of Jawzjan amidst increased countering of government forces against Daesh combatants, said Ministry of Defense Spokesman Mohammad Radmanesh.
Daesh has no option but to lay down arms and surrender or be killed, in the face of intensified clampdown of Afghan security forces against the terrorist group, said Radmanesh.
Four other Daesh fighters including a group leader also killed in Achin district of Nangarhar at the same time, he added. On the other hand several strongholds with weapons and ammunition busted during army operation in Chahardara district of Kunduz province.
