AT-KABUL: Unknown gunmen opened fire on prayers as they were busy performing nightly prayers, martyring four of them in a mosque in eastern Nangarhar province, official said Monday.
The firing occurred in a mosque in Shamshapor area of Sra Raod district on Sunday night, provincial governor spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani told Afghanistan Times. “Four prayers embraced martyrdom and three others received injures in the shooting.”
The injured prayers have been shifted to the hospital in an immediate move. However, the shooters succeeded to escape the area, the spokesman said, informing of an investigation kicked off to bring the culprits to the book.
However, there is no immediate claim of responsibility by any militant groups.
