AT-KABUL: The Afghan spy-network operatives in a crackdown against militant outfits—have put behind bars at least 127 militants from Taliban and Daesh (IS) extremist groups, official said Tuesday.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives arrested 71 Daesh fighters, and 56 Taliban militants during multiple operations conducted in eastern Nangarhar province in the past two months.

The arrestees had been involved in several subversive activities, such as placing mines, attempting assassination of high-profile figures, and other terroristic bustle, the spokesman added.
“NDS operatives had also arrested numerous suicide bombers,” he added, saying a large number of would-be suicide bombers with scores of their suicide vest, is encompasses among the detainees.
Other equipments including a vehicle and a motorbike encumbered with explosives materials had also been seized. “Moreover, some 255 rifles of different weapons confiscated during intelligence operative’s crackdown.”
The spokesman added at the same period of time, 19 kidnappers and 21 corrupt officials had been arrested by NDS personnel.
According to him, the arrested illicit had confessed to their crimes — and further investigation is on card in their cases.
However, in part of peace process attainment, 60 Daesh and Taliban fighters categorized in four groups, had reintegrated into civil society by joining the Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace and reconciliation process in the past two months, the spokesman underlined.
