AT-KABUL: A suicide bomber rammed into a patrolconvoy of foreign troops in northern Parwan province on Sunday morning, killing three Resolute Support service members, said officials.
“A suicide bomber on foot blew up his explosivesnear a patrolling convoy of foreign forcesin Khalazai area in Charikar, center of Parwan province on Sunday at around 6:00am,” Spokeswoman for Parwan Governor Wahida Shahkart old Afghanistan Times.
Denying any civilian casualty, she said that the coalition has not either reported any casualty incurred to the troops. The troops were patrolling in the area on feet, she added.
The Resolute Support in a statement confirmed that three Resolute Support service members were killed by a suicide bomber during a combined, dismounted patrol with Afghan forces in eastern Afghanistan, August 5.
Another Resolute Support service member, which U.S. Forces-Afghanistan acknowledged was an American, and two Afghan National Army soldiers were also injured in the blast.
“My thoughts and prayers, along with those of all of the 41-contributing Resolute Support nations, are with the families and friends of our fallen and wounded service members, and our injured Afghan brothers and their families,” said U.S. Army Gen. John Nicholson, Resolute Support and U.S. Forces-Afghanistan commander. “Their sacrifice will endure in both our hearts and history, and further strengthen our resolve.”
In accordance with Resolute Support policy, Resolute Support does not release the casualty’s nationality prior to release by the relevant national authority.
Taliban immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, the group spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in twitter said that a tactical explosion targeted foreign troops in Khalazai in Charekar center of Parowan province today early morning.
He claimed that foreign troops sustain casualties in the attack.
