AT-KABUL: A United Nations envoy says the international panel seeks transparent elections in Afghanistan and hopes the upcoming ballots will not be plagued with fraud.
Miroslav Jinka, UN Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs met on Monday with Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah in his office and discussed political development, the UN role in Afghanistan, the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, the peace process and regional cooperation.
Mr. Jinka assured Abdullah of the United Nations’ commitment for cooperation and hoped that the forthcoming elections will be transparent.
