AT-KABUL: A number of political parties called on the independent election commission to not print the voting ballots until the government meets their demands.
The parties emphasized in a statement released on Tuesday that millions of dollars would be wasted in printing the useless ballots if their demands are not met.
“If the independent election commission continues printing ballots ignoring the demands of political parties, it will be responsible for the waste of millions of dollars,” the statement said.
The commission announced the final list of parliamentary election candidates from 33 provinces, saying the ballots would be printed according to the list.
The ballots are planned to be printed in abroad, according to the election commission.
Political parties offered their own electoral scheme, asking for invalidating of voter registration and change of electoral system with biometric method as well as monitoring of the election by political parties and civil society.
The government and election commission have rejected the offers.
