AT-KABUL: In series of terrorist attacks against civilians, 48 civilians were martyred and 67 more injuredafter a terrorist detonated his explosive belt among hundreds of students in an educational center in west of Kabul city.
The bomber, on foot and disguised as student, detonated the explosives, attached to his body, today afternoon at 4:00pm among those school girls and boys, who were attending a special class for university entrance exam in a private education center in Dasht Barchi, in west of Kabul city, according to Kabul Police Spokesman, Hashmat Stanekzai.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, Wahidullah Majroh while revealing result of last counting of casualties said 48 civilians were killed and more than 67 others were injured in the attack.
Most of the victims were taken to hospitals in west of Kabul close to the site of the attack including Barchi hospital, Istiqlal hospital, Ibn-e-Sina, emergency and Aliabad hospital.
After getting first aid in these hospitals the injured were sent to the related special hospitals based on the nature and type of the injuries for special treatment.
President Ashraf Ghani, in a brief statement “strongly condemned the terrorist attack” by “criminal terrorists” and directed the officials not spare any efforts to provide best treatment to the injured and to help families of the martyred.
Ghani who expressed his deep condolences and sympathies to the families of the martyred, called this attack a crime agiant “Islamic teachings” which shows evil intent of terrorists toward education.
Taliban disassociated themselves from the attack. Such attacks were carried out by terrorist group of Daesh in the past in Kabul.
