AT-KABUL: The Deputy National Security Advisor of Afghanistan Sulaiman Kakar resigned from his position on Monday by presenting his resignation letter to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, officials said Monday.
In his resignation letter to President Ghani, Kakar described the existence issues and difficulties as the main reason behind his resignation and urged the president to accept his resignation.
The National Security Council officials confirmed that Kakar presented his resignation but President Ashraf Ghani has not decided over his resignation yet.
This happens while Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the National Security advisor stepped down from his position 10 days ago, describing the political differences and the existing political issues as the main cause behind his resignation.
Meanwhile, President Ashraf Ghani accepted Atmar’s resignation and appointed Former Ambassador to the United States Hamdullah Mohib as National Security Advisor.
Sulaiman Kakar is a close figure to Mohammad Hanif Atmar and some sources view the reason behind his resignation on National Security Advisor’s resignation, when Atmar stepped down from his position.
However, Kakar has been working as the Deputy National Security advisor for four years; in his resignation letter he expressed his gratitude to President Ghani and thanked for having trust in him as the Deputy Security Advisor over the past four years.
