AT Monitoring Desk-At least 20 security forces were killed in a Taliban attack on their checkpoints in northern Baghlan province, provincial official said Sunday.
Taliban assaulted several checkpoints of Afghan security forces, in which 20 security forces were killed and their checkpoints captured by the militants, a provincial council member said.
The incident took place in Baghlan-e-Markazi district after dozens of Taliban insurgents attacked several checkpoints, leaving fatalities.
Safdar Mohassani, a provincial council member said five other security forces were received injures in Saturday’s overnight Taliban attack.
However, there is conflicting report among local officials over casualties.
Only 14 security forces were wounded, and their health condition is stable, Mohammad Hanif Razyee Spokesman of Shaheen Military Corps said.
But he lamented that nine security forces are missing after the attack.
Moreover, Taliban insurgents claimed their fighters killed dozens of security forces.
