AT-KABUL: Commemoration ceremony of the Martyr’s Week and 17th death anniversary of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the National Hero of Afghanistan held Sunday at Loya Jirga tent with participation of high-ranking government officials, politicians, jihaid leaders and hundreds of supporters of late Massoud.
Political leaders highlighted Massoud’s political legacy and also talked about current challenges in Afghanistan. Intensification of insecurity, deadlock in peace process, and the upcoming elections were main topics of talks.
Deputy Chief Executive Mohammad Mohaqiq said that situation in Afghanistan is getting worse and national unity government is still engaged in orchestrating fraudulently elections.
He turned heat up on the government and the election panels for showing no political willingness for a transparent election.
“Government is focusing on planed elections while militants getting headway by overrunning district.”
He said the result of elections is not acceptable at all if the government continued to brush off their request or a change in election body.
According to him, government has not welcomed political parties demand so far which has pitfalls consequences. Only biometric-based elections is acceptable, he said.
Moreover, Head of Ahmad Shah Massoud Foundation, Ahamd Wali Masoud said that election with mass scale fraud is not acceptable.
Country has been trapped in terrorism and ethnic issues he said, while emphasized on free, fair, and transparent election to resolve current problems.
Second Vice President Sarwar Danish touched on the issue of terrorism facing Afghanistan and said that the only way to overcome the crisis is for all Afghans to stand united against the trend.
At the event, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said firing in the air is against National Hero’s rule and regulation, describing celebratory firing as second assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud.
He also talked over other issue including the upcoming elections – which he said government should consider political parties electrical demands.
Abdul Rasul Sayyaf, a prominent jihadi leader also addressing the event said the enemies of Afghanistan are trying to create ethnic division in country.
Sayyaf, a former Jihadi leader, said the Afghan nation will one day stand on its own feet and that it will take its revenge against countries interfering in Afghanistan’s affairs.
