AT-KABUL: Following a series of coordinated military crackdowns across the country’s tumultuous areas, at least 23 militants have been killed and 16 wounded over the past day.
Afghan national security and defense forces launched a string of joint operations against insurgents in Nangarhar, Kapisa, Ghazni, Paktia, Khost, Logar, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Badghis, Herat, Faryab, Baghlan, Sar-e Pul, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, said a statement carried by the Defense Ministry.
Afghan forces killed more than 23insurgentsand wounded 16others in the crackdowns, and captured two terrorista suspects.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed sanctuaries of militants by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, six insurgents were killed and nine others were wounded in Maiwand district of Kandahar,six insurgents were killed and two others were arrested in Andar and Qarabagh districts of Ghazni,two insurgents were killed, three were wounded and a BM1 device destroyed in Nader Shah Kot district of Khost province.
Afghan Air Forces also conducted heavy air strikes on enemies’ positions that as a result, seven insurgents were killed and four others were wounded in Qaisar district of Faryab, two insurgents were killed and a motorcycle was destroyed in Zurmat district of Paktia province.
In past 24 hours,18 planed clearing operations, and107Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted117aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including13 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
