AT-KABUL: People in the northern province of Baghlan staged demonstration on Sunday in Kabul to protest the presence of irresponsible armed groups.
The protestors said that the presence of armed groups caused insecurity there, asking the government to prevent their activities.
They claimed that government officials were playing dual roles in Baghlan province, demanding justice and equality with other provinces.
The demonstrators called on President Ashraf Ghani to shift the provincial headquarters from Pol-e-Khomri city to its old place Baghlan-e-Markazi and appoint a person from the province in the senate.
They also staged a sit-in in front of the presidential palace to meet President Ghani and share their problems, but president’s guards forced them to go away.
They warned against further civil moves if the government did not remove irresponsible armed groups in Baghlan.
Security situation in Baghlan province has worsened due to the presence of illegal armed groups.
