AT-KABUL: As part of their routine crackdowns, Afghan security forces pounded multiple locations in many provinces where militants were hiding, killing at least 45 Taliban fighters and wounding six others.
The defense ministry issued a statement, asserting that Afghan National Army in collaboration with Afghan National Police and National Directorate of Security launched joint operations against insurgents in different areas in Helmand, Nangarhar, Nimroz, Sar-e-Pul, Badakhshan, Ghazni, Kandahar, Logar, Kunduz, Herat, Baghlan and Uruzgan provinces.
In these operations, 45 insurgents were killed and six others wounded. Afghan defense and security forces bombed Taliban sanctuaries and positions by artilleries and airstrikes.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, three Taliban fighters were killed and five others wounded in Poshtrod district of Farah, five militants were killed and one wounded in Andar district of Ghazni, two suicide vests, nine rockets, six rounds of mines, five grenade bombs with some other ammunitions were destroyed in Faizabad district Jawzjan province.
Similar during air strike, 20 insurgents were killed in Nadali, Nawzad district and Lashkargah city of Helmand and 17 insurgents were killed in Khogianai district of Nangarhar province.
In past 24 hours, 18 planed clearing operations, and 104 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 90 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 10 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
