By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Thursday said that it has put the security forces on high alert to pave the ground for safe and smooth election across the country.
“All segments including operational and intelligence forces are on high alert in order to reinforce security for the national process of election across the country, “said Deputy Spokesman for MoI Nasrat Rahimi.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Ministry of Defense (MoD) Spokesman, Rahimi said that all efforts under way to pave the ground for a safe and smooth election every hook across the country.
Over 54,000 security forces were deployed to ensure security of 5,100 voting centers and 21,000 polling sites in the country, he added.
Operational, intelligence and even aerial forces were prepared to reinforce security of the election, he noted.
He said that Afghan forces are also tasked to do their best to protect candidates and pave a safe ground for running of electoral campaigns.
He urged candidates to organize their campaign rallies in coordination with the security forces in order to prevent any importunate incidents.
Pointing to Nangarhar bombing in an election rally, he said that the gathering was not held in coordination with the security forces in the province.
Meanwhile Ghafor Jawid Spokesman for MoD said that operations have been intensified against insurgents, adding that in the past one week” 318 militants were killed, 96 wounded and 38 others arrested during clampdowns in the past one week in different provinces.”
He said that also 51 Daesh fighters were killed during operations.
