AT Monitoring Desk-An emergency aid of €20 million have been allocated by the European Commission to Afghanistan aimed at quelling the threat of severe drought as humanitarian situation has been worsened since beginning of current year, Zamannews reported Friday.
Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides said ‘the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan shows little sign of improvement. Conflict has been intensified since the beginning of the year and a severe drought is taking hold.’
Hinting to the vulnerable communities in Afghanistan that have been hit hard, the European Union has came forward to the fore to help those most in need. “Our new aid package aims to reach 400,000 people in need of assistance.”
EU scales up humanitarian support to Afghanistan, this brings total EU humanitarian aid for Afghanistan to €47 million in 2018.
