By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: Ministry of State for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs on Saturday said that it has provided cash and wheat aid to over 1,800 families hit by drought and conflict in five provinces.
According to a statement, 15,401 drought-stricken families were provided with wheat in Badghis, Uruzgan and Nimroz provinces. Provincial Directorate of Disaster Management distributed 50 kilograms of wheat to 203 families affected by drought in Badghis.
In Uruzgan, 1,116 families received 100 kilograms of wheat.
Moreover, 14,082 families stricken by drought received some 76 kilograms of wheat in many districts of Nimroz province, including Chakhansuri, Chang, Chahar Borja, Khashrod, Dilaram districts and Nimroz’s capital city, said the statement.
On the other hand 3,200,000 afghanis was granted to 320 war and drought affected families in Kandahar and Helmand southern provinces.
Kandahar provincial Directorate of Disaster Management has supported financially five families of martyrs and 15 wounded people, who were victims of suicide attack of 4th PD in Kandahar.
Some 100,000 afghanis was distributed to each family of martyrs and 50,000 afghanis to every wounded person in the pronces.
Likewise Helmand provincial Directorate of Disaster Management in cooperation with the IRC organization has financially supported 300 drought affected families in the province.
Each family received 6,500 afghanis through the donation program.
