Pakistan deploys hundreds of outposts along Durand Line

KABUL: The government of Pakistan has established 233 checkpoints along the so-called border line known in Afghanistan a just a line, Pakistani army said Sunday.

The move comes after fencing by Pakistani government along the line with the length of 208 kilometers.

Pakistani army said the fencing would complete by the end of 2019.

The government of Afghanistan has not yet commented to the fencing that has sparked intensive criticism by the members of parliament who accuse President Ghani’s administration of “secret deal” that allows Islamabad to do so.

Afghanistan’s longest border is with Pakistan with 2,430 kilometer, called as the Durand Line. The line was named after a British diplomat Sir Henry Mortimer Durand who designed the line, leaving a long tension between the two neighboring countries.
