Ghani announces plan to merge departments to transport ministry

KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani in an order merged ministries of transport and public works and amalgamated departments of civil aviation, railway and traffic police into the transportation ministry.

A statement issued by presidential press office, said Sunday that these departments would continue working under the title of ministry of transportation.

The aim of this decision is called to prevent extra expenses and job interactions, but analysts say the merged departments have several branches and personnel, warning that the merging would force a lot of people lose their jobs.
