AT-KABUL: Amid a war on drugs, the country’s top counternarcotics court has sentenced 21 drug traffickers to prison in the past one week. They sent behind bars for short and long-term incarceration.
Criminal Justice Takes Force (CJTF) on Tuesday said that its primary and appellate courts have convicted 21 drug smugglers to 18-month till five-year of imprisonment.
According to CJTF, over 256kg heroin, 31kg morphine 109kg hashish and 1kg crystal were discovered and seized from the above-mentioned convicted drug runners in different provinces.
After examining the evidences and arguments from the both sides, the CJTF courts have convicted the accused traffickers to long-and-short-term imprisonment, CJTF said in a statement.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and would be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics Law of Afghanistan.
