KABUL: Two suspected gangsters in Kabul were charged on Sunday after coordinated arrests aimed at breaking up a sprawling drug smuggling operation.
National Directorate of Security – NDS – said an intelligence special unit in a joint operation with the police arrested two smugglers in Kabulwith 70kilograms of drugsin possession.
The NDS said in a statement that the suspects were identified as Shamsullah and Qand Agha, who skillfully placed 62kg hashish and 11 kg opium in a Ranger model vehicle and were on the way to Kabul city, when arrested by security forces.
Two Ak-47 rifles were also seized from the arrested smugglers, added statement.
The arrested indicts confessed to their crime and further inquiry is going on over the case.
