KABUL: The European Union (EU) is to donate 30 million Euros to the Afghan judicial system, with the EU ambassador to Kabul saying the money would be given to Afghan attorney general office.
The EU Ambassador to Kabul Pierre Mayaudon, said Monday that 10 indexes were considered to be reformed in the Afghan judiciary, adding that the EU would increase supporting Afghan judiciary if they achieve these goals.
The attorney general office says it is committed in reforms and would make efforts to implement the three-year long program properly.
The EU ambassador also said that they had offered specific suggestions to the Afghan attorney general office based on which serious reforms would take place to help Afghans have full access to justice.
“The EU is offering this project costing 30 million Euros. Our first goal in reforms is the attorney general office and then we will go to the human source department. We have offered them 10 indexes and they will receive the budget after they reach the key goals,” said Mayaudon.
The attorney general office says it has received 13 indexes from the European Union over reforms.
