KABUL: Afghanistan’s intelligence service – NDS – said on Wednesday that it had killed the Taliban mastermind of a deadly attack on a military base in Maidan Wardak province. The Taliban commander was killed along with seven other terrorists in an ‘air strike’ on Tuesday night.
Intelligence forces found whereabouts of the mastermind of the deadly Maidan Wardak attack and staged an immediate air strike on Tuesday midnight – a day after the attack, killing the militant and seven of his accomplices, said the National Directorate of Security in a statement.
“NDS will continue its manhunt for all the terrorists behind the brazen attack and will kill them,” said the spy agency.
The Taliban stormed a military compound in Maidan Wardak province on Monday morning and killed and injured dozens of security forces. Five terrorists clad as Special Forces rammed an explosive-laden armored vehicle into the compound’s gate and then opened fire on members of security forces. A part of the compound collapsed in the car bombing.
The NDS confirmed Tuesday that 36 of its forces were killed and 58 others wounded in Monday attack over its base in Maidan Wardak province.
