KABUL: The government says that during the winter operations, heavy casualties were inflicted on the armed opposition groups, with the security forces regaining more areas.
Ghafoor Ahmad Jawid,spokesman of the ministry of defense said on Wednesday that the operationsgoing on in different provinces,would continue untilthe end of the winter.
He added that the these operations were conducted by the Afghan National Armywithassistancefromair forces in Kapisa, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktika, Kandahar, Herat, Balkh, Jowzjan, Samangan and Helmand provinces.
Four insurgents were killed, four motorbikes and some weapons and ammunition were seized in the Maiwand district of Kandahar, he said.
Four insurgents were killed andtwo were wounded in Dara-I Suf district of Samangan. Two insurgents were killed and some improvised explosive devices were discovered and defused in the Qarabagh district of Ghazni, said the ministry spokesman.
Similarly, one Daeshterrorist was wounded and one was arrested in Chaparhar district of Nangarhar. One insurgent was killed in Ziruk district of Paktika.
Headded thatarmyraideda Taliban prison in Ghazni province and released 38 soldiers being held by the insurgents.
