KABUL: The Afghan security authorities say Sunday that they have foiled a potentially deadly blast in Kabul, the capital city, after seizing a car loaded with explosive materials in eastern Logar province.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Nasrat Rahimi said the Afghan National Police (ANP) thwarted a plot by an insurgent who straight a car felled with explosives toward Kabul. “The would-be suicide bomber with his car bomb has caught red handed before reaching the target.”
Police identified the suicide car bomber in Safid Sang area of Pul-e-Alam, the provincial capital city at 11:00pm local time, he added.
The arrested is still being interrogated by local authorities.
The provincial police acted quickly the nip the evil in the bud; otherwise, it could be another tragedy for the Kabul residents if explosives went off.
The timely action of the Logar police saved Kabul and its residents. It is worth mentioning that security has been ramped up across the country since new security leaders took charge of maintaining security.
