KABUL: The nomads living in the northern Faryab province claim that their children can’t get access to education with the government remaining careless to their problem.
Considering the populations and areas where nomads live in this province, their representatives allege that services are not provided to them. They say that nomads are deprived from education and healthcare services in Faryab.
They say that a large number of nomads spend half of the year in Faryab, urging that authorities should pay attention to their children’s education conditions.
But, Ghulam Mohidin Paikan, head of the provincial education department, said Monday that he had not received any complaints from nomads’ regarding the problems they are facing in education since he took the office recently.
“I would like to assure my nomadic brothers and sisters that I with the cooperation of my colleagues will meet their problems and will soon provide educational facilities for their children,” Paikan said.
However, Hajji Asadullah, head of nomads’ department in Faryab province said that there were more than 15,000 Kuchi (a term used in Afghanistan referring to nomads) families in the province and they live in border areas in Qarmqul, Almar, Pashtunkot, Qaisar, Dawlatabad, Shirin Tagab and Khwaja Sabzpush districts.
