KABUL: Fish products have been doubled in Nangarhar province this year, showing mushroom growth has created a lucrative source of income for locals
Five tons of fish produced in Nangarhar in the past 11 months, which revealed double increase in this product through governmental and private farms, provincial office said in a statement Sunday.
Provincial Livestock Head Amir Mohammad Behsodi said over 20,000 fishes are in the dams under frame of the agriculture and livestock department.
He said last year two tons of fishes produced in Nangarhar, but it increased to nearly five tons, which show over 200 percent rose in the fish products.
Heading sufficient attentions and helping fishing farms by the government is the main factor behind increase of fish products, he added.
Fishing has good market in Nangarhar with lucrative income that creates good job opportunity for the people in the province.
In order to boost up fishing products, the agriculture and livestock department plan to establish a hatchery farms in 13 acres of land in Sara Rod district and leave into that two million fishes, he added.
