KABUL: Amid war on drugs, Afghanistan top counternarcotics court on Tuesday sentenced 27 drug traffickers to short-and-long term of imprisonment in the past one month.
Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) in a statement said these 27 drug traffickers sentenced to short and long incarceration where according to hearings of primary and appeal court, they are convicted to six-month till 18 years of imprisonment.
Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) also seized 1kg heroin, over 61kg morphine, 5471kg opium, 415kg hashish, 414kg crystal, 78kg chemical and 124 liters of alcoholic beverages from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, mentioned statement.
Out of 27 drug traffickers, three of them were caught red-handed while smuggle drugs through Hamid Karzai international airport to India.
They were identified and arrested by CNP.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and would be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics Law of Afghanistan.
