KABUL: At least 40 militants have been killed and 22 others wounded over the past 24 hours in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by Afghan security force across the country, security officials said Wednesday.
The Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Ghazni, Paktia, Kandahar, Urzgan, Sar-e-Pul, Samangan, Nimroz and Helmand provinces that left 40 insurgents dead while 22 others received injures.
The security forces also detained three militants during operation and had handed the over judicial organs for further inquiry
14 Taliban fighters were killed, nine wounded and three enemy strongholds destroyed in Grezwan and Dawlatabad districts of Faryab, while nine killed and four Daesh affiliates were arrested in Khogianai and Sorkhrod districts of Nangarhar province, the statement added.
Furthermore, eight militants killed and eight others wounded in Ghorak district of Kandahar, and six militants have been killed and four others wounded in Qarabagh and Andar districts of Ghazni province.
Similarly, one militant killed and another wounded in Alishing district of Laghman, while the same other killed and two strongholds of the enemy destroyed in center of Urzgan province.
One insurgent was also killed in Khashrod district of Nimroz while one other in Nejrab district of Kapisa province.
In the past 24 hours, 11 planed clearing operations, and 79 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 84 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including six strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
The ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
