10 police officers freed from Taliban captivity in Balkh

KABUL: The Police Special Forces freed 10 police officers being in Taliban’s captivity for 48 days in the Chemtal district of Balkh province, interior ministry said.

These officers met acting interior minister Masoud Andarabi on Monday, who distributed police uniforms to them, saying that the ministry was a safe umbrella for all police officers.

Khoshhal Saadat, deputy interior minister said that Special Forces managed to free their colleagues during an operation without any casualties.

He added that police are decisive in battle against terrorists and will have no mercy over them.

Mohammad Musa who had been taken hostage by Taliban, said the militants’ behavior was inhumane with him and his colleagues.

These police officers were held in a Taliban prison in the Gor Dara area of the Chemtal district.
