KABUL: At least 28 militants have been killed and seven others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country within past 24 hours, security official said Wednesday.
The Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Khost, Ghazni, Paktia, Urzugan, Herat, Sar-e-Pul, Baghlan, Faryab and Helmand provinces that left 28 militants and wounded seven others.
Also the Afghan forces arrested one militant during operation and handed him over judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
10 Taliban fighters were killed, two wounded, another arrested, 17 mines and 20 strongholds destroyed in Sangeen district of Helmand, while seven others including four local commanders named Abdullah, Zaheduallah, Yusof and Badrodin were killed in Zurmat district of Paktia province, the statement adding, three Deash fighters were killed in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province.
Similarly, three insurgents killed in Andar district of Ghazni, the same number killed and five others wounded in Zawal district of Herat.
Moreover, two rebels killed, three ammunition caches, three tunnels and a mine maker factory of the enemy destroyed in center of Urzgan province, the statement added.
In past 24 hours, five planed clearing operations, and 69 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, the Air Forces conducted 157 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 13 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
