KABUL: Kabul residents complain for what they say “a culture of bribe” in government institutions.
Money, tea, donation, why don’t you know the point?, are the expressions government employees use when asking clienteles for bribe.
“One day I went to a government office, an employee told his colleague that I brushed the first customer’s teeth and you brush the next one’s,” said Bilal, a Kabul resident.
He said government employees wouldn’t do your work until you pay them.
The civil society activists and parliamentarians also criticize the government for not fight corruption dominating its institutions.
Also, the Integrity Watch of Afghanistan expresses concerns over corruptions particularly in the ministries of education, mines and petroleum as well as justice.
President Ashraf Ghani confirms corruption as a big challenge in his government, saying that fighting this phenomenon was his priority.
Meanwhile, Jamshid Rasuli spokesman for the attorney general office said that the office has so far arrested several government corrupt employees.
“To prevent giving and taking bribe, the government has plans and many government employees have been so far arrested on charge of corruption,” he said, asking the people to cooperate with the attorney general office in recognizing corrupt persons.
He said that the attorney general office has received several corruption and bribery cases so far.
He asked the Afghan people that while facing such events contact 118 and inform the in charges.
Meanwhile Waheedullah Taroon head of the coordination department of the civil society praised the efforts over reforms for the anti-corruptions but called the implementation of the reforms the main step to counter corruptions in Afghanistan.
