KABUL: A blast as a result of landmine occurred in Shawalikot district of southern Kandahar province, in which a civilian was killed and four other, from a single family were received injures, security officials said Friday.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Tadin Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News a landmine bomb exploded on civilian vehicle in which members of a family were traveling.
The driver was killed in the blast while four others including women and children were injured, he said. Soon after the blast police arrived in the area and shifted the injured to the hospital.
The mine was fixed by the Taliban recently to target civilians, according to Tadin Khan.
The Taliban insurgent place roadside mine to target Afghan and foreign forces that unfortunately ends up with civilian’s causality. A large number of Afghan civilians were killed and wounded in different IED’s and roadside blasts across the country placed by the Taliban insurgents.
