KABUL: At least 74 militants have been killed and 14 others received injures in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country within past 24 hours, security officials said Tuesday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different parts of Urzgan, Helmand, Ghazni, Kunar, Kandahar, Nimroz, Badghis, Badakhshan, Baghlan and Nangarhar provinces, in which 74 militants were killed and 14 others wounded.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations, 31 militants killed, three wounded and seven strongholds of the enemy with some ammunitions destroyed in Dehrawod district and Trinkot center of Urzgan—13 insurgents killed and two vehicle, two strongholds of the enemy destroyed in Nadali, Nahr-e-Seraj and Musa Qala districts of Helmand—13 Taliban fighters killed, six wounded and Waghez camp, Abu Qala, Baran Qala and Moshkai area were cleared in Ghazni—13 rebels killed in Chapa Dara district of Kunar—four terrorists killed and five others wounded in Khakriz district of Kandahar province.
Unfortunately, a number of Afghan soldiers embraced martyrdom and another number received injures during these operations.
In past 24 hours, six planed clearing operations, and 84 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 161 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army troops including 14 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
The ANA also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition during past 24 crackdowns.
