KABUL: At least 76 militants have been killed and 24 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country within past 24 hours, security official said Wednesday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Badghis, Badakhshan, Faryab, Farah, Helmand, Ghazni, Urzgan, Nangarhar, Kapisa, Kunar, Baghlan, Balkh and Nimroz provinces, where 76 militants were killed and 24 others wounded.
The Afghan forces also arrested 10 militants, including five suspects during these operations, handing them over to judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
26 Taliban fighters killed and three others wounded in Jawand and Balamorghab district of Badghis—10 others including Taliban local commander Mawlawi Rohani killed and five others arrested and a number of weapons seized in Qaisar district of Faryab—eight militants killed and four others wounded in Lashjowain district of Farah.
The operation continued, where five rebels killed, five suspects arrested and two ammunition caches of the enemy destroyed in Marja and Sangeen district of Helmand—two militants killed in Naichin area center of Urzgan—two Daesh fighters killed in Achin district of Nangarhar, two terrorists killed in Tagab district of Kapisa province, ministry’s statement added.
Unfortunately, three Afghan soldier forces embraced martyrdom and nine others wounded during these operations.
Moreover, nine planed clearing operations, and 82 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 132 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 15 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
