KABUL: The Afghan security forces have retaken the control of the Ab Kamari district in northwest Badghis province, a local officials said on Saturday. However, the ministry of defense rejected the falls of the district to the Taliban from the beginning.
Abdul Nasir Nazari, the Provincial Council member said the Taliban stormed the district at around 9:00 pm on Friday night and managed to capture the district center but security force retook the control at 4:00 am in the morning.
Nazari said security forces retreated to the mountains in the south and staged a counter attack and captured the district centre early in the morning.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Defense (MoD) rejected the fall of the Ab Kamari district to Taliban, but confirmed heavy casualties in part of Taliban group sine Friday night.
Taliban terrorists have suffered heavy casualties last night in the AB Kamari district of Badghis, MoD wrote in its twitter page, adding 20 of Taliban fighters were killed and 30 others injured.
Insurgents’ death bodies, motorcycles and other tactical vehicles left on the battlefields. All news regarding the district collapse to Taliban is false.
In order to ignore their heavy losses in Balamorghab district, last night Taliban terrorists tried to attack the Ab Kamari district where reinforcements have arrived and started retaliation attack, noted MoD.
“Our clearing operation continues with full force.”
At the same time, Taliban Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that their fighters overrun different governmental compound and headquarters in Ab Kamari district and imposed causalities to security forces in the district.
