KABUL: The courts of Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) on Tuesday said it has sentenced 15 drug traffickers to short and long incarceration in the past one week.
CJTF in a press statement said the primary and appeal courts of CJTF have convicted 15 smugglers to five and 30 years prison.
Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) also seized 81kg heroin, over 15kg morphine, 48kg opium, 25kg hashish, 600kg chemical and over 3kg crystal from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, statement added.
At the same period, CNP arrested 29 drug traffickers including a woman during operation in different provinces.
Out of 29 drug traffickers, four of them were those smugglers intended to smuggle drugs through Hamid Karzai International Airport to India, who were caught-red handed.
Statement said that after examining the evidences and arguments from both sides, the CJTF courts convicted the accused traffickers, the statement added.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
