KABUL: Taliban militants and the fighters loyal to the Daesh terrorist group who are engaged in bloody clashes in the eastern province of Kunar, have reportedly set each others’ houses.
Clashes between the two anti-government armed groups that began last week in the province’s district of Chapa Dara, has now expanded to other areas, which the house burning incident has taken place in the Watapour district, according to reports.
“So far, 350 families have fled their houses in the Watapour district and the number is expected to increase,” said Abdul Wadood, an in charge of displaced people’s registration.
Prior to this, 1,000 families had displaced from the Chapa Dara district and were living in the open area in Asad Abad city, the provincial capital.
“War was continuing, thus, we came here. The war is between Daesh and Taliban that threatened our lives. They told us to leave our houses if we don’t side them,” said a woman, who was waiting at the displaced registration queue along with her four children.
“All this disorder is because of war and devastation. They burn our houses, loot our goods under the name of Emirate,” said Abdul Hamid, another displaced, referring to the title Taliban used to call their government (1996-2001).
Neither Taliban, nor Daesh terrorist group have commented on the reports of house burning.
