KABUL: Iran claims that the United States was still transporting fighters loyal to the Daesh terrorist group to Afghanistan, after the group was defeated in Iraq and Syria.
Iranian Mehr News Agency on Monday quoted General Kioumars Heydari, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, saying that Tehran pays serious attention to security of its borders and thus, has deployed more troops along the Afghan border, especially in the areas considered most vulnerable.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had earlier expressed concerns over Daesh activities in Afghanistan, saying that fighters of the terrorist group are sent to Afghanistan by the United States with the aim of destabilizing Central Asia.
