KABUL: Former spy head and First Vice President to Ashraf Ghani’s electoral team, Amrullah Saleh on Wednesday rejected participation in planned meeting of Doha talks on 20 April aimed at discussing peace talks with the Taliban group.
“I remain grateful to president Ashraf Ghani for adding me in the list of speakers to represent the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Doha conference. However, I won’t attend. Taliban are the only and the biggest obstacle to peace as they continue the campaign of massacre and destruction,” he said in a tweet message.
He furthered, “If the Taliban are not fighting for the interest of a hostile foreign power then they should agree to direct and focused negotiations with the Afghan government. Their daily massacre of ordinary Afghans and destruction of education infrastructure is anything but Islam and Afghan.”
A delegation of 250-mmeber are going to Doha on Friday to held talks with Taliban group and convince them shun violence and node for comprehensive talks with Afghan government.
